Team Building GamesMany corporate companies are turning towards team building games as a way to get groups of employees who must work together to build their skills and improve camaraderie. Some companies even find that team building games boosts employee moral by providing the opportunity to learn to work well with co-workers and then being recognized for successfully doing so. While team building games are typically implemented and orchestrated by a groups of management from different departments, it is usually up to each team’s manager to execute participation in team building games. They may choose to require participation by blocking out time during the workday or they might schedule an after-hours event. Scavenger hunts are a very popular choice of team building games. Many new companies are cropping up whose sole endeavor is designing corporate scavenger hunts. This allows companies to purchase a completely designed program ready to implement and saves them the time and money of designing their own. Other team building games and activities may be suggested by employees in some companies and this also saves the company their time and resources to design a program from scratch. Some companies use the workday for smaller scale team building games based on any number of real life game shows. Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are just a few styles of games that companies have incorporated into their team building games. Co-workers may challenge each other or challenge other groups or departments with the reward being anything from earning a casual clothes day to a luncheon or extra bonus incentives the company may have. The long term success rate for companies who use team building games as a strategy for employee retention and performance levels has not been widely studied, but warrants enough merit for companies to continue implementing some form of the strategy. In the short term, it doesn’t seem to be hurting anything. |
