Party Games

Nearly every party is an excuse to get together, eat, and play games. Not all parties are as clearly defined as that, but you can bet at most parties, there’s some type of game. Party games can be anything you want them to be and only requires a group of people willing to all play the same thing.

Standard party games such as charades or karaoke are well known. But not everybody wants to silently act like a fool or show their blatant lack of talent by signing “Summer Nights” off key, especially in front of a group of people. For these party guests, it’s best to have a selection of party games on hand.

Any board game that allows more than 4 players to participate can be classified in the “ party games” category. Usually games that allow two or more teams to be formed are best. Some card games such as Black Jack and Poker do not limit play to only four. When selecting party games, consider if you are entertaining adults only or a range of ages.

For a wide range of ages, trivia games sometimes make excellent party games. If the age group is extremely varied, your best bet is to have games available for different age groups. Say 8 and under can play one game while 12 and over can play another, and in between age groups can choose. Kids are usually happiest with games like Twister, multi-player video games, and better yet, kids will often shamelessly perform karaoke for everyone’s entertainment.

Good party games come in handy in a variety of situations. Anniversary parties, wedding receptions, and holiday gatherings are all instances where a good party game or two keeps guests entertained and hanging around longer. Of course if your objective is to get rid of your guests as quickly as possible, then go ahead and make charades the only party game you’ve got. Or quicker still, have no food and no games. Your home will clear in under an hour-guaranteed.
